AWCINSW Awards for Excellence 2025 – President's Speech

Rave reviews on our 2025 event provided positive feedback from our sponsors and contractors — all agreeing that the format AWCINSW have landed offers a broad range of categories allowing our hard-working contractors more opportunity to be rewarded and recognised for their hard work.
This year AWCINSW are keeping the same categories plus offering some more – making sure we are inclusive of our local and regional contractors, employers and apprentices who strive for excellence and continue to contribute in a positive way for our industry.
President's Speech - Shane Croker
As President of the Association of Wall & Ceiling Industries in NSW, it is a great privilege for me to welcome you all to the AWCINSW Awards for Excellence 2025.
Today we come together to celebrate the exceptional achievements of our wall & ceiling contractors in NSW.
Thank you to our sponsors who are supporting the 2025 Awards for Excellence. Your partnership strengthens our community and enables us to recognise and reward the best among us.
I am going to take this opportunity to provide you with an overview of what the AWCINSW has been up to over the past 12 months, many of you know, earlier this year we moved our premises in with the Master Builders Association at Norwest.
The decision to do this came about by the ongoing relationship between AWCINSW & Master Builders Association, whilst both organisations recognised the differences in their membership cohort, we also work together to bring benefits to the construction industry in NSW.
Let’s take a look at just some of the reasons the NSW EC came to the decision of working closely with Master Builders NSW.

In person meetings with Minister Steve Whan and shadow minister Justin Clancy provides AWCINSW the opportunity to represent our contractors with key Government officials
Further to this, we have run projects with NSW Department of Education, through their Regional Industry Engagement Program and are working with Training Services NSW to create opportunities for school leavers to try the skills of a wall & ceiling contractor through our Framing the Future program.
The AWCINSW have ongoing interaction between the Building Commission of NSW, and are close to completion on a project that we believe will be a game changer for the wall & ceiling Industry, not just in NSW, but across Australia. The digital platform that we have been working on will sit on the NSW Building Commission’s website. It is a partnership project between Building Commission NSW & AWCINSW, combining industry and training expertise to produce clear, practical content that reflects real site practice. It has been pitched to everyone in the construction pipeline, from the architects planning phase through to the completed paint job. We maintain our participation in the BuildSkills forums and contribute to the NSW Government industry consultation committees.
Other significant changes to AWCINSW, has been the appointment of our Operations Manager Mark Gousev and also the engagement of our Membership and Events Manager Belinda Goddard.
Both Mark & Belinda come with a wealth of experience – Mark being a 2nd generation wall & ceiling contractor who understands your needs as a contractor in NSW -afterall, he is one of us! A wall & ceiling liner and Belinda having working the capacity of membership and events for over 10 years.
We have exciting times ahead for the AWICNSW and I take this opportunity to thank you, our members who continue to support your association. I also acknowledge Jane Barnes and the NSW Executive for their ongoing dedication to our organisation.
To all the 2025 finalists and award recipients today, congratulations. Your achievements are a benchmark for us all. I encourage everyone in our industry to celebrate not just the winners, but the collective progress and excellence we share as an industry.
Shane Croker.
PRESIDENT, AWCINSW
